How do thriller writers, known for creating high-concept plots which stretch reader imagination, compete with the modern day, 24-hour news cycle?   We live in an alternate newsiverse where politicians are bigger personalities then James Bond himself…and news reports could very well vie for “fiction of the year” accolades.  As readers increasingly search for news escapism outlets, are thriller writers turning away from ‘based in reality’ plots?  This BookCon exclusive panel features four talented writers (Brad Meltzer, Kate White, Charles Soule, Lou Berney) who have taken on the challenge of competing with the news cycle in a world where reality is stranger than fiction.  Panel moderated by Petra Mayer of NPR Books.
